Landsknechts in a tavern, 1520's

Another one of my historical illustrations. I've been really into European 19th century genre paintings recently and this is inspired by those. As a subject I went for an everyday scene with a group of Landsknechts (German 16th century mercenaries).

I tried a slightly different workflow where I relied a bit more on 3D. So the room is a 3D paint over and for the figures I posed some 3D models and made parts of the clothing in Marvelous Designer. I then used that as reference for painting the figures and getting the perspective, values and colors more accurate.
